The answer to the bastardry and anti people attitude of our big banks is a publicly owned people's bank run through the Australia Post outlets around the country. We are getting closer to having a people's bank thanks to various voices that are coming around to supporting the peoples bank through Australia Post.
- .18th June: CEO of Aus Post (Paul Graham)
- Declares that banks have shifted costs onto Aus Post due to bank closures.
- Bank@Post is struggling financially so the deal with the banks will have to be considerably re-negotiated (in the next 3 months) to provide more funds to Bank@Post. - 3AW's Tom Elliot, probably one of the biggest radio programs in Victoria, ran a big show about the issue and championed a post office bank and claimed it is his idea. - 6PR's Oliver Peterson in Perth is also promoting the PO Bank.
- Shire councils are coming out in support of a post office bank.
- Ashburton in WA
- Junee and others come out in support of post office bank.
- Local Government Association's national meeting is coming up soon and at least 3 proposals will be put forward asking for the group to show support for a post office bank.
